Sulu couldn't help but stare at Ianto, much like Ianto was staring at him - the shock and pessimism of Ianto's comments sent him for a loop, big time. How was it so hard to comprehend? Then again, he'd never lived in a world with famine, or disease, or war (not real war, anyway; they weren't at peace with the Romulan or Klingon empires, but the fights happened lightyears away from home and were way beyond his scope at the moment).
