Sulu didn't want to accidentally offend Ianto, but he was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to drink the coffee before they got in the car, and unless he had travel mugs, it'd be asking for trouble. He took a sip despite how hot it still was, and despite the fact it didn't have any cream in it. It didn't matter - at this point, caffeine was caffeine.
He could understand why Ianto didn't want to leave without a shirt, he really could - especially with an Asian woman handcuffed to him - but at the same time, it really did seem pointless. Like Jack had pointed out, they'd only be outside for a few moments before climbing into the car, anyway. He briefly put his cuffed hand over Ianto's to catch his attention before agreeing with Jack (possibly at no surprise to either of them). "He's right, you know. I do understand why you might want to cover up, but you really shouldn't need to."
