"I'd like to think we'd talk even without the handcuffs," Sulu laughed, shaking his head. Still, Ianto had a point. They probably would have shuffled around the situation so much more, if they'd had that extra bit of space between them. He could only hope that their being handcuffed together wouldn't drive them both up a wall, though he sincerely doubted it.

Sulu was a little surprised that Ianto was being... well, optimistic about the idea of it working out, even cautiously. But when he thought about it - he couldn't really remember Ianto being very down on himself or on the world in general since... well, since the hospital, he thought. That thrilled him a little; it made him wonder if he'd helped with that, or if Ianto had just over exaggerated how bad he could get. He sort of hoped it was the former. "Yeah," he said, smiling, "It'll work out. We'll make it work."
