To be fair to Newport, it had at once been a major port city and steel milling town, before the Great Depression had hit. After that it was on a steady decline until around the 70's when it started to try and make its name on the map again. It definitely wasn't London, but. It was something.

I'll bet, judging by the fact that I'm pretty sure that you probably don't know anything about the original Cardiff, but at least know something about the original London, so.
