Sulu really hoped that this universe wasn't going to doom this particular Earth to the apocalypse before their date. (He didn't want to say anything, though, because that could jinx it.) He decided that he would simply have to force his schedule to work, because - well, because he would just worry and micromanage until they got this whole thing settled, and a date picked out.
God, he could only hope that he could find a way to arrange for an evening off, where he could come out to Cardiff and see Ianto and not have to worry about the work he'd left back aboard the Enterprise. He'd make it work, though. He had to.
