Sulu had only let himself get cynical because that was the way the conversation had been heading on his behalf, but he couldn't allow himself to stay that way. He couldn't allow himself to look at this negatively, because if he started that way, who knew how far he'd go.
He smiled at Ianto and reached a hand up to grab his, the one he had left in Sulu's hair, and held it. "As long as we both want it to work out, it will. External circumstances be damned." After all, he had to keep that kind of attitude, if he wanted this to succeed. And, damn it, he wanted nothing more.
