There were three things Sulu always expected when he woke up: some kind of alarm, his regulation sized bed and his regulation sheets. In his line of work, those were the only safe assumptions; for all anyone knew, they could be waking up to their timer alarms or the red alert alarms, or they could wake up on the floor after an attack - but they would always wake up near it.
Being that he was not really a morning person, it took Sulu a groggy minute of groaning and half-hearted stretching to realize that his three safety blankets? They weren't there. Instead, his bed felt - bigger, really, and... manlier. Really manly. Which felt weirder than the softer sheets, the metal bracelet around his wrist and the fact that he had hair in his eyes.
...Hair in his eyes.
Oh, Jesus. He knew what that meant -
Sulu snapped to attention and sat up, only to realize that he was now straddling someone, he was a girl, and he was in his boxers. And that was it. Part of him realized he was on top of Ianto, but the rest of him then followed suit and noticed that his free hand was on Jack's chest, and this was way out of his comfort zone.
Being that he was terrible at this whole "suddenly a girl thing," Sulu could only do one thing in that moment: he shrieked and tried to fling himself off the bed, despite the fact that he was handcuffed to Ianto. "SHIT!"

Date: 2010-07-16 03:19 pm (UTC)Ianto, on the other hand, was a bit nervous for this, because for one, getting clothes on one-handed was a challenge. He knew from when he'd dislocated his shoulder and he'd been ordered by doctors to keep it in a sling for a few days, that it ached too much to move around enough to use it to get dressed. He was actually worried that Sulu just might have to use his other hand, and then Ianto's hand would be that much closer to touching and things could just go so horribly wrong, there, and. Jack reached out a hand and put it on Ianto's shoulder, and he jumped, snapping back into his thoughts. "Yes," Ianto said, knowing that it would probably be a long time before this blush left his face, "right. We'll...we'll give you as much privacy as we can, and you can just. Change. I'll...I'll obviously need to stick close by, but."
"Relax, Ianto," Jack said, physically turning Ianto around, "we both know that you won't be anything less than a gentleman about it. Now. Give the lady her space," he said, winking at Ianto before turning back to look at the opposite wall with Ianto. "Alright, then, Lieutenant, work your magic!"

Date: 2010-07-16 10:29 pm (UTC)Taking off the sheet was easy, though he really wasn't too big on this whole woman's body thing, and his boxers were practically hanging off his hips anyway, so they came off easily too. He dropped the clothes on the bed, managing with the underwear pretty well, all things considered. He had to take a minute to arrange it properly, making sure it wasn't twisted, but hey. At least it fit.
The shirt was going to be a little more difficult, but at least he was aware that he needed to pull that on before the skirt. He stepped into it, crouching down a bit to try and pull it on. ...Okay, so that wasn't working so well. "Ianto, I need my hand." He'd been doing all right so far, only jerking their hands around a little bit, but now he really did need to use it and, well. "Don't worry, it'll only take a second." He was absolutely aware of how close Ianto's hand came to his skin, despite his previous statements about it being no big deal - it was Ianto, after all. It felt strange to be so tense about Ianto's presence, and even stranger to have the butterflies in his stomach start up because of it, but he just chewed his lip and shimmying into the shirt as quickly as possible.
The skirt, thankfully, was easier, though clasps and zippers were a pain with one hand - luckily, he knew how to do that. "Okay. There, see, that wasn't so bad, was it?"

Date: 2010-07-17 03:38 am (UTC)Jack turned as well, and whistled low. "Gotta say, Lieutenant, the strapless, sleeveless look really works for you like this. Ianto here sure knows how to pick clothes out for someone, let me tell you that. I'm glad you can't do sleeves. It'd be a shame to have to cover that up."
Ianto rolled his eyes and blushed at the backwards compliment that Jack had given him, when he realized something with a groan. "Oh, god. I'm... I'm not going to be able to wear a shirt while this virus is still on, am I?" He pulled his hands in an automatic gesture to run them over his face, but his one wrist caught, still attached to Sulu's, so he stopped mid-motion, groaning. Ianto had hesitations about stepping out of the house in a t-shirt, some times, let alone absolutely nothing at all. "Brilliant. Just...absolutely brilliant..."
"Oh, relax," Jack said, rubbing Ianto's shoulder in support, a grin across his face that really saw no chance of leaving anytime soon, "you look good like this. Maybe not your usual style, but. I'm certainly not complaining," he said, with a wink, though who it was directed at, Sulu or Ianto, it wasn't really apparent. "Bring a sheet or something, if you're really feeling that uncomfortable with it."

Date: 2010-07-17 05:26 am (UTC)Well, he was sort of on Jack's side, here. He wasn't seeing anything for Ianto to complain about - though, at the same time, he could understand why he'd be hesitant to go outside shirtless. It wasn't really normal for Cardiff, from what he'd seen, after all. "He's right," Sulu said without really thinking, "Don't worry about it. Nobody's going to care, not really. You'll be fine, anyway." He smiled, "I'm pretty sure it's acceptable for a man to be shirtless in public. You're not that far back in the timeline."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-17 06:52 pm (UTC)Jack shrugged, smiling at Ianto, but knowing not to push the other man, not when he was as embarrassed as he was, but submitting to the fact that he had no other choice here. "Alright, fine. But honestly, Ianto, when we get to the Hub, carrying that sheet around is just going to be in the way. You're going to have to get used to it. I'll. I'll call Gwen and explain things to her, give her the day again. Alright? It'll just be me and Sulu, yeah, nothing to be worried about."
Actually, yes, there was. Because Sulu was half the reason that Ianto was embarrassed to be shirtless in the first place, but Ianto nodded at him, blushing. He wasn't going to get anywhere soon if he kept being difficult about it, after all. "Yeah, alright..."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 01:01 am (UTC)"At least it's easier for you guys now, though, huh?" he asked, "I mean, now that Gwen knows about the community. You don't have to try and explain an Asian woman handcuffed to your wrist, or anything."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 01:26 am (UTC)Ianto visibly slumped. He felt bad for asking, but. "Jack," he called out. Jack popped back in the room for a second, the phone flipped open, looking like he was about to make the call. "Can...can you. Not tell Gwen exactly what's going on?" he asked, the look in his eyes pleading. "I. I already have enough to live down with her as it is. I'd...prefer not to add to the list." Jack made a face, indicating he was definitely curious as to what Ianto exactly meant, but didn't ask questions, just popping out of the room instead.
Ianto breathed. "Right. Yes..." He thought for a second. "Clothes. I need clothes. Or well. Trousers at least. I'm...here, this way," he said, leading Sulu to his closet, so that he wasn't just dragging him along. "I... I suppose that suit trousers are a bit strange to wear when you're not going to be wearing a shirt, then," he said, sighing as he looked in at the rest of his clothes, ignoring the fact that he had off-handedly mentioned that conversation that Gwen had read between Sulu and himself, and the fact that the jeans Sulu had picked out for him were there, hanging in the midst of the rest of his jeans.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 01:39 am (UTC)The truth of the matter was that he was only sorry because it seemed Ianto was really hung up about it even now, when they had other things to worry about. He didn't know how to best reassure Ianto about it, either, especially not in a woman's body, but he placed his uncuffed hand on Ianto's shoulder, even if that meant he had to step a bit closer to the other to do it.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 01:57 am (UTC)"No, it's alright. It's...if it weren't for this, then it would be something else that Gwen found to poke fun at me with. She's... She's almost like my sister in that sense. And well. I... I don't regret it, or anything," he said, blushing and turning back to the closet to try and hide that fact.
"...I rather think that jeans'll work," Ianto said, reaching into the closet to grab a pair of jeans. Not the pair that Sulu'd picked out, but. They were jeans nonetheless. "At least, well. Jeans and a sheet will look a bit better than trousers and a sheet, yeah?"
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 02:11 am (UTC)"Yeah, I guess. You're the one with the fashion sense, here," he said in response to Ianto's half-rhetorical question, ducking his head a bit. That move only got hair in his eyes, though, so he immediately reached a hand up to brush it away, only realizing it was the hand Ianto was cuffed to until he was doing it, and it would be silly to stop halfway through the action. (Besides. Well... The butterflies were too novel to pass up.)
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 02:41 am (UTC)"Oh," he said, not moving his hand away, not doing much moving in any direction. "Sorry. I... I mean. I was just. I mean. My hand was there anyway, and... I-I..." Oops.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 03:10 am (UTC)"It's - I." He chewed his lip and then smiled, head tilting just slightly into Ianto's hand, "It's okay." And there wasn't really anything else to say to that. Instead of bothering to restate the obvious, he went a more direct route; he turned his cuffed hand and put it over Ianto's, so he wouldn't pull away - so he'd know Sulu was really telling the truth about it being okay.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 04:16 am (UTC)"Y-yeah?" he asked, smiling bashfully at the person in front of him. He made no move to move his hand from underneath Sulu's, even though he was basically cupping his cheek. God, he really wasn't used to being this much taller than him. He knew that there was only a little bit of time before Jack would be back, and yet. "It's... This. This isn't too weird for you, right?" he asked, softly. "I mean, with all things considered?"
He moved his thumb a little bit, tracing the side of Sulu's now really quite delicate cheekbone in a surge of what, self confidence? "You... You'd tell me the truth, if it were, wouldn't you? I mean. We're stuck to each other for the next god knows how many days. I... I don't want things to be any weirder than they have to be, yeah?"
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 04:26 am (UTC)"Honestly? Not... really. A little, but not because of you, it's just that I'm not really used to..." The body, the situation, the mood in general, which had taken a very strange turn after Jack had left, not that Sulu was complaining in the slightest. "It's fine, really. I... don't mind." He gave Ianto's hand a squeeze. "And - you know, you do look good without a shirt." They seemed to be in a moment of weird honesty, and, well. It seemed like a good thing to point out at the moment. "And, honestly - I'm glad it's you I'm handcuffed to, if I had to be handcuffed to anyone."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 04:47 am (UTC)"And, well. I mean, its... It's a good thing that it was me that you ended up handcuffed to, and not Jack. Or rather, it's also lucky that it's me and Jack that have to be close to each other, and not the two of you. I... I hope that even being stuck this much together isn't going to make you feel any worse about Jack's behavior. I'll... I'll try to keep him in check, but. I can't make any promises, yeah? Who knows whether he'll decide to behave himself, or well, not." Never mind the fact that Ianto was continuing the conversation with his hand cupped to the side of Sulu's face. He really should be getting those jeans on, and yet. He didn't really want to move and break the contact at all.
"I..." he said, trying and kind of failing not to be awkward about this, because it was so new and he just wasn't used to any of it. "I'm glad that it's you, too. I mean. All things considered, for viruses, this... This isn't so bad, yeah? Even though you're well. Like this. I'm...I'm not used to being so much taller than you," he said, laughing nervously again. God, he was really fixated on this height thing.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 10:42 am (UTC)"It's okay, really. I'm - well, not at home in this body or anything, but Jack has to do a lot more than compliment it to get me irritated. Though if he keeps it up, I might feel bad about going back." His tone was obviously joking, but it wasn't completely incorrect, all things considered. "And - yeah, you being taller is a little weird, but. It's okay. I think I can live with this virus sticking me with you for a while."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-18 04:12 pm (UTC)"Yeah. It's weird, but. It's alright. I mean, who knows how long this virus'll last, but it won't be too bad. Maybe... Maybe Jack'll even calm down a little bit, with the whole flirting thing, by the end of it. I mean, well," he said, stumbling over his words. "Not stop, because he never stops, unless he's furious, but. Y'know. Maybe you'll get on better after this, or, well. Something." Ianto had a feeling that however long this lasted, something would change due to the fact that the three of them were stuck together for the whole time. Like. Even this moment. It was really new, and well. It never would've happened if it hadn't been for the handcuffs, so. Ianto had a feeling that there might be more moments like this, coming up. Possibly even with Jack still there, which was a bit weird to even consider.
"Jack's going to have to be back soon," Ianto said, frowning, not knowing how he felt about that, other than disappointed. "We... We can't stay apart for much longer. I... I should see what I can do to get those jeans on." And yet, he didn't move his hand from Sulu's hair. He didn't want to take the first step away, didn't want to be the one who pulled back, because lord, it had taken him this long to be comfortable enough to even be this forward, here, he didn't want to mess it up.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-19 12:07 am (UTC)But at the same time, he felt himself hard pressed to move away. Ianto needed to put on his jeans and Sulu needed to get control of himself. He squeezed Ianto's hand again, this time taking it away from his face. He didn't let go, though, bringing their hands down to their sides. "Do you want me to help you with the jeans? I don't think you pulling on some jeans is going to be as embarrassing as me putting on a full outfit was."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-19 12:53 am (UTC)"But first," Ianto said, realizing something as he looked down at himself. "Here, hold these?" he asked, handing Sulu the jeans before leading him over to his bureau and opening the drawer to get out a clean pair of boxers, because he wasn't going to spend the whole day in the same ones he'd slept in. The blush did nothing to dissipate. "I'm... I'm going to have to ask you to turn around for this, though," he said, smiling bashfully at his companion.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-19 01:11 am (UTC)Turning around, he lifted his free hand to try and brush out his hair some more. "Just let me know if... you know, you need your hand."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-19 04:26 am (UTC)Ianto did the best he could with removing the boxers one-handed, tossing them across the room and miraculously getting the hamper like he'd intended. He wasted no time in lying out the boxers and stepping into them, sliding them on and up as fast as he could. He...would rather not be standing there naked any longer than he had to, after all. After he was done, he made sure that everything was safe, before nodding, even though Sulu couldn't see him. "Yeah, alright. Well, that part's done," he said, "you can turn around again." He reached out to take the jeans back from Sulu.
"I'm...I'm afraid I'll need to use my hand for these, though. Y'know. With the fastenings, and all. I mean," he said, holding up his free hand, his left one, "I'm not left-handed, after all." Ianto felt a bit embarrassed that Sulu had been able to do it one-handed, but there was that fact, after all.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-19 09:43 pm (UTC)Luckily, he was able to control his blush better this time, even though Ianto was basically telling him how close his own hand would be to the fly of Ianto's jeans - yeesh. He shook his head with a smile. "Yeah, don't worry about it. It'll be fine."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-20 02:39 am (UTC)"Yeah, alright," Ianto said again, before bending over, stepping into the jeans, pulling them up with the one hand that he had free. He paused, because of just that--Sulu's hand was about to be pulled very close to the fly of his jeans, and well. Yeah. But they were both adults, this was all too new for him, and Jack was going to walk in any second, if he wasn't watching them from the other room as it was. He tried as best he could one-handed to make sure that his boxers were laying correctly in the jeans, because he wasn't comfortable sticking Sulu's hand down his pants, before he gently pulled his hand (and consequentially Sulu's) to fasten the button on the jeans and pull up the zipper.
no subject
Date: 2010-07-20 04:41 am (UTC)He lightly closed his hand into a fist, keeping his hand as far away from Ianto's pants as possible, biting his lip and looking at Ianto's face in an attempt not to, well, pay attention to how close they were right now. "Jack's... taking his time, huh? I hope he's not going to destroy that uniform, by the way, so make sure he treats it good. Who knows if the Defiant is as used to ruining uniforms as we are."
no subject
Date: 2010-07-20 11:36 am (UTC)Ianto wasn't sure what Jack thought about all of this with Sulu that had just sprung up. He figured the man would have to be blind not to notice it, but. Jack was always going on about how relationships weren't one-sided like 21st century morals tried to make them. That there were many other, multi-faceted ways that things could be done. But. Ianto really hoped he wasn't making Jack jealous with this. He hadn't said anything aloud to acknowledge it to him, and Jack hadn't said anything about it back, but. He hoped that Jack was beyond jealousy and competition and whatever man-code sort of things that might pop up when your whatever Ianto was to him started flirting with another man.
"As for the uniform..." Ianto blushed. "He'll probably keep it for later, in all honesty. Save it for a rainy day, and all that. He's probably going to change out of it and put it into storage for exactly that, as soon as we get back to the Hub." He shook his head. "Actually, he might even be waiting in the hall for us to be ready to head out with him. Are you all set to go? I'm sorry that, well. I can't give you shoes, or anything. I really didn't keep any of Lisa's, and mine are, well..." He trailed off, still really aware of the full head and then some that he was suddenly taller than Sulu.
